Google is fined for impeding an investigation by the United States Communications Commission

Internet giant Google was fined $25,000 for its attempt to impede a major investigation by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which sought to identify the motives behind the data that Google collected from the FCC in its Street View program. However, Google was cleared of misusing any potentially sensitive data during the program and may also request an appeal against the fine. The investigation took place for around 18 months and failed to find any sufficient evidence that Google had breached data laws.

Street View – a controversial project

Google’s Street View has given people the opportunity to witness millions of streets across the world, right from the comfort of their own computer. However, Street View has been met with some criticism from certain countries. For example, Germany only recently allowed the company to publish its Street View project of major German cities because the government there had concerns over privacy issues.

Meanwhile, authorities in France have also voiced their concerns over the data, finding that personal email data and private information could be matched through the information that was available from street addresses and linking them to personal data like UK divorce lawyers documents. In Canada, officials found that login details and medical records could also be found from the data, according to the report conducted by the FCC.

Despite widespread opposition from across the globe, Google continues to defend itself

Google continues to defend the project, staying that Street View does not violate data laws because it does not collect encrypted data from any WiFi connections. Street View has not only revolutionised the way people find streets, destinations and attractions for practical purposes, it has also allowed people to see views of the world that they would otherwise never have access to through conventional methods (photos, books, films etc.).

But this stuff is not to be taken lightly. After all, it warned us of ‘the great whore of Babylon’ and it wasn’t long after this that Margaret Thatcher arrived on the scene…

However, before we can fully grasp the more intricate foretelling’s within this book, we need to understand one of the key Biblical prophecies; the identity of ‘The Unholy Trinity’. Fortunately I have already discovered all three of its components –

Google

Yup, you’d probably guessed it; Google are a major player in ‘the devil’s triangle’. This all powerful mother of harlots/search engines already controls much of the world… and it still has many other dark plans up its sleeve.

Google presides over our emails, our online documents and even our YouTube videos. It is only a matter of time before it moves into our homes as well…

Tesco

This supermarket chain has long had its sights set on world domination and events took a further unpleasant turn quite recently…. It would appear that Tesco are to now to become one of the main components in the governments'bright new ‘putting people on benefits into unpaid jobs'idea.

There have also rumours that unless customers at Tesco agree to have ‘Clubcard Implants’, they will be refused entry into stores…

McDonalds

Don’t be taken in by that colourful image of Ronald McDonald! If he really is a clown then it is only in a Pennywise kind of way (reference to Stephen King’s ‘It’…).

They may have ‘healthed-up'their menu, but McDonalds are still a very worthy opponent indeed. Rainforests, animals, commercial cleaning services, vegetarian diets; none of these things will stand in the way of this evil fast food giant!

Google Chops Picnik

The online photo editing tool Picnik that has a strong legion of firm followers and users is due to close its service on the 19^th April, after owners Google chose to scrap it in a recent cull of some of its services in the quest to steam line its business model.

The site which previously offered a full range of tools for paid premium members and some tools completely free for all users is said to be having some of it is features worked in to Google’s social networking platform Google although which ones and exactly how it will be integrated are yet to be made clear

Picnik is probably the most popular of sites that Google is scrapping but also many other services are due to be axed which include Google SkyMaps. A large portion of its users come from the teen demographic who have embraced Picnik’s picture alteration elements such as filters and adding picture stamps and text to their photographs. Picnik is however popular with all ages, the face enhancement features are really effective and easy to use, with tools such a eye brightening, teeth whitening, make up, and insta thin. Tools like these are fabulous to get that perfect Facebook profile picture to make your partner jealous after they’ve run off with the local floozy and you’ve called the divorce solicitors in!

There are however some online alternatives that you can check out once Picnik’s demise has hit, such as Pixlar, although none that I have come across so far have come close to Picnik’s capabilities and ease of use. The only other option to recreate similar photo effects is to bite the bullet and purchase Photoshop, although costly it does offer you the fullest range of photo editing tools to help you get that perfect picture.

Google brainwashing

Let’s face it Google is everything to us! We have created a world in which we cannot live without Google. When we need to know something what’s the first thing we think of to do… Google it! We even look on Google for the time these days, yes really the time, what on earth happened to watches? In this technology age we have taught ourselves to rely on search engines like Google to provide us with all the information we might possibly ever want or need. The only problem we are facing now is, can we really trust the man behind the Google curtain? Who is controlling the information that is being presented to us, and what if they have a hidden agenda?

The internet is overflowing with endless information and it is forever growing. Of course we need someone to control this information to us, and organize it, otherwise how would we ever find the most relevant and best results for the searches we are carrying out. We must be thankful to Google for this as they certainly do a good job of controlling what ends up on our screens.

But this also may be where the real problem lies, CONTROL!!!

So maybe we are looking for tailors manchester, we type it in and what do we get? A whole list of tailors manchester, and we are asking ourselves, ’why these tailors machester?'Does Google want us to visit these tailors, to choose these tailors are they trying to make other tailors go out of business by steering us to their competitors?

If this all sounds a little farfetched for you then fair enough, but must I remind you that Google are the ones that have developed this street view where we can literally walk around our towns and neighborhoods. If anything is ringing true when I hear the words Google street view it is George Orwell’s, ’1984'perhaps Orwell was right, perhaps he was a Nostradamus in disguise…

Google Your Grey Matter

There are developments that add to the well-being of mankind and then there are developments that take away from life. Recently I was looking for some information that I needed at the local library and approached the librarian for assistance. After hearing me out, and realising that the stuff that I needed was not available, she rather caustically told me to ‘google’ it as it would be a speedy thing to do. For a moment I was stumped, until realisation dawned that she was referring to the popular search engine.

Now you tell me, why on earth would I want to go to a library when any required information is just a click away? Let me tell you: it makes me feel lazy. It makes me feel that it is not hard earned and that I have cheated in my efforts. I know that many would not agree with me and that a few would even suggest http://www.net-root.com/ . But the fact is, by doing that, I am not being true to what I have set out to do. Sure there are times when googling for it would do, but there are some things that cannot be downloaded or siphoned off someone else’s hard work.

It makes me wonder if this is actually counterproductive. You remember that old saying, ‘You don’t use it, you lose it?’ Are we heading to a situation where the parts that make up our grey matter are getting smaller due to lack of use? I know people who can do multiple calculations without batting an eye. And I know people who, for the same thing, would need to pull out a calculator to arrive at the same result. The difference lies in the grey matter that is available, is in use and can be relied on at a moment’s notice. So are the advantages of google shrinking our brains? I mean, would you google to know if the current relationship you are in will work? Stumped?
